It’s all in the details

/ / General, Ideas and Inspiration

Only two short months ago, the winners of 104.9  The Cat’s Bridal Idol contest sponsored by Inspired Occasions were announced.  It’s rare that we plan a complete wedding from start to finish in such a short period of time, but I knew this was a unique opportunity to give blog readers a glimpse into what the process is really like in a condensed period of time.  We’ve chronicled Erin & Matt’s planning journey from the beginning in these great recap videos.

Let the planning begin

The countdown continues for Erin & Matt

Two weeks and counting

An engagement session

In the midst of all the planning and vendor appointments, my team has been hard at work with design details that are going to make this wedding spectacular!  Imagination is one of my greatest strengths as a planner and I use it to dream up details that will create an event representative of the couple’s vision and style and one that is a feast for the eyes of the guests who attend.  Erin and Matt envision a fun wedding that is full of classic romance and inspired by the concept of fairy tales.  For colors, the bride LOVES pink and was clear about wanting that to be the predominant color used.  On top of pink . . . silver and lots of sparkle.  Here is a bit about how we used our imagination to bring this vision to life.

To accomplish this for Erin & Matt’s wedding, as I would for any wedding, I considered every room, space, table and display and came up with a design for each that would be consistent with the overall feel of the event.  Let’s take the escort table as an example.  This is a spot often overlooked by couples when designing their wedding.  They slap a standard polyester linen on a table and line up the basic escort cards in neat rows.  Although the escort table serves a specific utilitarian purpose, it can also be a spectacular addition to the wedding design.  So for Erin and Matt, we will dress the round table in a shimmery specialty linen in their accent color of silver.  Raised in the center will be a tiered display of small floral arrangements and surrounding those flowers will be the custom designed escort cards displayed in spokes around the center.  The escort cards themselves combined the brides favorite color of pink, her love of bows, the accent color of silver and the elegant script also represented in their invitations and other signage throughout the space.  In a mass display, these escort cards will not only help guests find their seats, but it will give the guests a glimpse of what is to come throughout the evening.

signageHere is a brief description of a few other details custom designed for this “inspired” occasion:

Signage – Signs are often necessary to provide guests instructions and information throughout the event space.  For Erin and Matt, we needed framed menus for each of their food stations as well as signs for their gift and memorial tables.  With a fairytale inspiration in mind, we created all of these signs with an elegant script and a personalized monogram that combined a watermark image of a castle with their last initial.  Each have been framed in an ornate antique silver frame with rhinestones.  They also each feature one strategically placed pink gem for that extra pop of color.
Accent candlesAccent candles – Although Ambiance Florals & Events is providing amazing lush pink centerpieces, we couldn’t stop there.  To add lots of glow and an extra layer of color and sparkle, we created some bling-ed out pillar candles to surround the grand centerpieces.  Each is wrapped in a ruffled hot pink ribbon, features a silver and rhinestone buckle and a gorgeous hanging crystal.
Accent candles2Table numbers – No plain tent cards for this wedding.  These table numbers were custom designed and handmade.  On the tall centerpieces, these silver ovals adorned with pink rhinestones will hang down the side of the large vase by a strand of crystal beads.  For the lower centerpieces, they will be added to the actual arrangement with a silver clip.

We won’t stop there.  Every table will feature silver chargers, specialty folded napkins and beautiful chocolate filled favor boxes with a shimmering silver ribbon.  Pink light will wash the room and flower petals will be sprinkled on every surface.

It is all of these details that will bring Matt and Erin’s fairytale vision to life.  So when you’re planning your wedding, stop and think.  What is your vision?  How can incorporate your style into every aspect of your wedding?  Come up with a plan for each layer and element and how you will execute that plan.  If you imagination isn’t your strong suit, then don’t hesitate to hire a professional to help interpret your vision.  Then on your wedding day, step back and prepare to be wowed!  Just remember, a spectacular wedding is all in the details.
