As a Wedding Planner, I am naturally obsessed with details. When I meet a couple who is as detail oriented as I am, it’s a match made in heaven. Megan and Adam were like my planning soulmates. When they hired Inspired Occasions for full service planning of their Capital District destination wedding, their vision was all about the details that we love to design and execute. From eco-friendly floral designs to custom signage and a super unique recipe “guestbook”, their 140 guests were treated to an evening of great food, lots of fun and high style. Here are some highlights:
The Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake was the perfect backdrop for Megan and Adam’s wedding day. Megan chose a modern fall color scheme of burgundy with various shades of blue and grey. From the bridal party attire to the lush ribbons hanging from the bridal bouquet to the shade on Megan’s lips, saturated color was everywhere!
The incredible floral designs of Anthology Studios were all about texture. To achieve the natural and “more green than flowers” look that was really important to Adam, materials such as foliage garlands, green moss, artichokes and succulents were prevalent. Seasonal flowers and fresh pomegranates brought Megan’s rich colors into the designs. My favorite touch? The tiny succulent favors built right into the centerpiece.
Almost as important as the floral details in the overall design was the custom stationery and signage displayed throughout the event. A mix of custom painted wood signs and coordinating printed creations framed in mixed metallic frames were everywhere from the welcome table to the guest tables and the unique hanging seating chart.
Megan and Adam love to cook so it was a blast to help them incorporate their love of this shared activity into their wedding “guestbook.” We created a sweet display of cooking items from Megan and Adam’s personal kitchen, framed photos of them cooking together and Megan’s collection of cookbooks. Guests had the option of bringing a recipe of their own to share with the couple, selecting one for them to try from one of the cookbooks or sharing their own “recipe for a happy marriage.” All of the recipes shared by the guests will be put into a keepsake cookbook for Megan and Adam to enjoy for many years to come.
A tremendous amount of time and thought went into planning this stunning autumn wedding, but it was truly a pleasure to work with this special couple and their inspiring vision for the day. I can’t say enough about the talented vendors who shared the best of themselves to help us bring that vision to life!
