Inspired Occasions 2011 Wedding Season Preview
As our world in upstate New York gets greener those of us in the wedding industry find our calendars are get fuller. It’s wedding season which, for me, is like being a football coach entering the early days of fall. I looking forward to the exciting whirlwind that the next several months will be. Inspired Occasions is so lucky to have a full schedule of amazing weddings to keep us busy this year. Here’s a quick preview of just a few of the standouts:
Viva la Mexico! That’s right. We are heading south of the border this summer to oversee the seaside nuptials of Joanie and John. They are treating 25 of their closest family and friends to a destination wedding in Playa del Carmen Mexico. A week of fun excursions and lounging in the sun will culminate with a mariachi parade to their wedding ceremony which will take place on the white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Then they’ll enjoy cocktails and an over the top dinner in an open air private dining room overlooking the pool and beach. They’ll round out the night dancing into the wee hours in a swanky outdoor beach lounge.
Encore! Inspired Occasions returns to the Palace Theatre in Albany for the wedding of Tehra and Juan. This is the scene of one of my favorite all time weddings and I am very excited to return. The venue is unique and grand just like the couple. Tehra and Juan will bring their love of movies and glamour to this special evening. After a romantic ceremony at the foot of the grand staircase, guests will enjoy an extended cocktail hour in an amazing lounge featuring custom lounge furniture and dramatic uplighting. Guests will dine and dance the night away on the stage. Great food, dramatic décor and unique details will be in abundance as the evening unfolds like a beautiful stage performance.
Downhome and Homemade. I cannot wait for the early autumn backyard wedding of Alicia and Bob, especially since their backyard is an amazing 7 acre farm in the heart of the Adirondack mountains! Alicia is one of the most talented brides I’ve ever worked with. Although she’s hired Inspired Occasions for full service planning she has her hands on ever detail of this wedding and is adding special homemade touches everywhere! Her idea of the perfect day is to create an event that makes guests feel as if they are coming home to the farm to spend a day with family. Guests will watch the outdoor ceremony from seating made of hay bales and country print fabrics with a cup of cider in hand. The huge party tent will feature long tuscan style tables where guests will enjoy comfort farm fresh comfort food dishes served family style. Do you see the theme here? The homemade and special touches are almost too numerous to mention but . . .homemade canned jams for favors, centerpieces of garden cut flowers and herbs, handmade line drawn invitations, handpainted barnwood signs and beer made and bottled by the couple themselves are just a few. And if that’s not unique enough .. .instead of hiring a traditional DJ or band, Alicia and Bob will surprise their guests with a Contradance (crosss between line and square dance) with fiddles, a caller and all!
The best part of my job is that I get to be an integral part of these unique and special days of amazing people who become friends. No two couples are alike and thus every wedding is a new adventure for me and my team. We have a marathon ahead of us, but we look forward to every step during wedding season 2011!
